2 Charged Following Seizure Of $35-M Cash And High End Vehicles

Police have charged two men following an operation in St Catherine in which they seized over J$35 million in cash and several high end vehicles.

Those charged are 33-year-old Lawrence Pommells, engineer and 32-year-old Ricardo Harris, mechanic, both of Old Harbour, St Catherine. Both men have been charged with Money Laundering (Possession of Criminal Property) and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act (Bribery)

According to police, last week Thursday morning (June 7), investigators from the Constabulary Financial Unit of C-TOC and the Financial Investigation Unit (FID) carried out an operation in New Harbour Village, St Catherine. During the operation, two premises were searched and over J$35 million along with four high-end vehicles and other valuables were seized.

Both men are scheduled to appear in the St. Catherine Parish Court Friday, June 15.

Investigations continue.
