The security forces have arrested three men and seized ganja valued at over $5.5 million dollars in an operation in St Elizabeth Thursday, September 27
The narcotics police have commenced investigations into the seizure of approximately 1,384 pounds of compressed ganja and the arrest of the three men off the coast of in Black River, St. Elizabeth. Reports are that about 8:00 p.m., members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Coast Guard were patrolling the area when they spotted a boat with three men aboard. The men were acting in a manner that aroused the suspicion of the soldiers, hence the vessel was intercepted, searched and twenty-nine (29) bags of compressed ganja found. The men were arrested and the drugs along with the vessel seized and handed over to the Police.
The ganja has an estimated street value of $5.5 million.
The men’s identities are being withheld until formal charges are proffered.
