Police have arrested four people and seized ten guns and some 640 rounds of ammunition at a wharf in Kingston.
A release from the JCF said a joint operation carried out by police personnel from the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations Branch (C-TOC) and the Narcotics Division with support from the Contraband Enforcement Team of Jamaica Customs led to the seizure in the operation that began about 5:30, Wednesday, October 3.
The following items were seized in the operation, which began about 5:30 a.m.:
- One sub-machine gun
- Nine 9mm Pistols
- 640 assorted rounds of ammunition
- One silencer
Four persons—two women and two men—were arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary investigations are indicating the weapons and ammunition were reportedly shipped to Jamaica from the United States of America.
