Celebrating Ms. Lou’s 100th Birthday

The Government of Jamaica has declared 100 days of celebration for the late cultural icon Dr. The Honourable Louise Bennett-Coverley, Miss Lou.

On Saturday, September 7, the Culture Ministry and the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) held a floral tribute in celebration of Ms. Lou’s 100th birthday, at the National Heroes Park.

Also, on Sunday, September 9, at a ceremony in Gordon Town, the government renamed the Gordon Town Square to Miss Lou Square.

There will be 100 days of celebratory activities and Mr. Andrew Clunis, Director, Marketing and Public Relations at JCDC, shared the details and the reason for renaming the Gordon Town Square (now Ms. Lou Square) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2NYNIslSc9/ in an interview with Jamaica Today.
