Accused Triple Murderer Gets Legal Aid

Legal aid services have been provided for the man accused of chopping to death his pregnant common-law wife and their two children in Hanover yesterday (Wednesday).

The sixty-year-old man who has not yet been charged was held by police yesterday morning following the murder of 38-year-old Andanique Cunningham, her daughters four-year-old Shanique Coote, and seven-year-old Jayanna Coote. Ms Cunningham was eight months pregnant.

The Ministry of Justice says two senior lawyers at the Private Bar have been assigned to represent Paul Coote. They are Tamika Davis and Delford Morgan.

A statement from the Ministry of Justice says Mr Coote was removed from the general lockup population and placed in an area for his personal safety and security.

“Mr Coote is now at location where there is less risk of physical assault,” the statement from the Ministry said.

The attorney’s services provided for Mr Coote will afford him representation at any pre-charge process, Committal Proceedings at the Parish Court and trial at the Circuit Court level.
