The new Member of Parliament for Portland Eastern, the JLP’s Ann Marie Vaz was sworn in as Member of Parliament today, Tuesday, April 16.
The acting Clerk of the House, Valerie Curtis called out the name of Ann Marie Theresa Vaz as shouts of approval went up from the Government benches.
Mrs Vaz then took the oath and her seat on the Government benches, as the 63rd Member of Parliament.
She beat Damion Crawford of the PNP, in a by-election April 4, to fill the vacancy left by the death of Dr Lynvale Bloomfield.
Mrs Vaz was welcomed by Speaker of the House, Pearnel Charles, who told her she was getting a copy of the Standing Orders.
There are now 34 MPs on the Government side and 29 Opposition MPs.
