Asafa Powell’s Statue Unveils

It’s Asafa Powell’s day, Sunday February 9, at the National Stadium in St Andrew, as his much-awaited bronze statue takes its rightful place alongside Jamaica’s sports icons Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Veronica Campbell Brown, thus completing the four monuments that were commissioned by the government under the Jamaica 55 Legacy Programme. Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Sports Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange and several sports personalities including Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Chris Gayle were there to support the track athlete with the most sub-10 seconds and his wife and new-born baby.
