The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) has launched another probe relating to its members and the alleged assault of citizens. This time it says it is conducting an investigation into a shooting which led to the death of a woman during a police-military operation in August Town, St Andrew, on Wednesday, May 27.
The probe began after residents claimed soldiers had chased someone into the yard in which the woman lived. She has been identified as 44-year-old Susan Bogle, who is disabled.
She was shot multiple times and was subsequently rushed to The University Hospital of the West Indies, in the company of her son, where she was pronounced dead.
Two investigations are being conducted; one by Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and the other by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), and JDF says it is co-operating.
The JDF is encouraging persons who may have information concerning the shooting incident to contact INDECOM, the JCF, or the JDF at its tip line 876 837-8888.
