Police have now identified the two people murdered this morning in St James in what appears to be a double murder suicide incident.
Dead are: Dionne Smith, 45-year-old gas station supervisor of Rosemount and her 16-year-old daughter Jayshenel Gordon, student of Herbert Morrison High School, Montego Bay, St James.
Police now believe that Smith’s common law husband whose body was found in a car in the Rio Cobre this morning is the one who killed the two females. He is Fabian Lyewsang, 41 years old.
Reports are that about 2:15 Sunday morning, September 22, Lyewsang and Smith had a dispute at their house in Rosemount. He attacked her with a knife stabbing her several times before he slit her throat. He then went upstairs the two-storey house and slashed the throat of his step daughter Jayshenel Gordon.
Lyewsang reportedly then called a family friend and told her what he had done. He then drove away in Smith’s motorcar which was later found submerged in the Rio Cobre in St Catherine. He was pronounced dead at Spanish Town Hospital.
Police are also trying to determine what has happened to a 13 year old child believed to be taken from the home this morning.
