BOJ Cops International Communications Award, Thanks To Reggae Music

It has always been said that people, particularly children, learn better through music, and in Jamaica, it Reggae, of course.

Well, the Bank Jamaica (BOJ) did just that in its communications strategy, and won itself the Central Banking Publications award for using Reggae music to inform the public about the what it calls the “heartbeat” of the economy – inflation – and the significance of inflation targeting (4 – 6% a year).

One of Jamaica’s Reggae icon Taurus Riley was featured in the central bank’s communications strategy.

The Central Banking Publications is an international body that makes such awards and holds workshops and conferences to inform central banks around the world on the art of communicating difficult economic terms, simply.
