Boy Who Drowned In Clarendon Identified

Police have identified the boy who drowned in flood waters in Clarendon on Monday, October 1. He is six-year-old Dajahne Pennant of Oliver Gardens, May Pen, Clarendon.

The boy was swept away by flood waters in the Mount Claire area of Clarendon on Monday, October 1.

Reports from the May Pen Police are that about 3:00 p.m., during heavy rainfall, Dejahne was on way home with a 13-year-old relative. They attempted to cross a flooded channel and were swept away by the water. The teen managed to pull herself from the water, however Dejahne was pushed further downstream by the strong current. The Police were summoned and a search ensued. His body was later retrieved from the water.

The girl, a student at Denbigh High was hospitalized.

Investigations continue.
