Capleton Has Been Granted Bail.
The Reggae and Dancehall entertainer, whose given name is Clifton Bailey, was offered bail this morning when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on a rape charge.
His attorney, Christopher Townsend, made the bail application before the court. Capleton, 51, was granted bail in the sum of $250,000.
Capleton, was arrested and charged Friday, May 11, by detectives assigned to the Centre for Investigation Sexual Offence and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
Allegations are that he raped a hairdresser in a hotel room on Saturday, April 28. It is reported he had hired the hairdresser to groom his hair at the hotel.
Capleton is denying raping the woman.
Capleton was in custody until his appearance in court in Half Way Tree this morning. He is to return to court June 14.
