Cabbie Murdered On The Job In St James

It was a ghastly discovery for some residents in Spot Valley, St James who stumbled upon the lifeless body of a taxi operator with the engine of his motor vehicle still running on Friday, October 19.

Dead is 51-year-old David Hylton, who hails from Rhyne Park Village in the parish.

According to reports Hylton, who plies the Montego Bay to Spot Valley route, made his way into a section of Spot Valley sometime around 8:20 a.m., allowing a passenger to disembark.

As the taxi operator made change for the passenger he was shot in the upper body and head; he reportedly died on the scene.

Some residents in the area have described the act as merciless and cold-blooded, as a video which made the rounds on social media and messaging platform WhatsApp this weekend, shows Hylton’s lifeless body, his hand still clutching wads of cash.

The Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed the murder, adding that members from the Montego Bay Police transported Hylton to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
