Children’s Home fire assessment continues

Officials are this morning continuing to assess the damage done by a fire Friday afternoon, August 9, to the National Children’s Homes, near Papine in St Andrew.

The fire destroyed the dormitory of the home but no one was injured and all the wards of the state were accounted for.

Six units fought the blaze that was reported sometime after 5 p.m.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness visited the home Friday evening where staff updated him on arrangements for the safe alternative accommodation of the children there.
