‘Chromaz’ Spice Sends Tongues Wagging On Social Media

She had promised something BIG. Her Instagram posts were deleted and 1.3 million followers were left in the dark, hoping her return would herald new music and a fresh look.

It was to be on Monday, October 22, when Jamaican deejay Spice’s return from a week-long hiatus, revealed a new look which sent social media users across the world scrambling to get a glimpse of the transformation.

“Nothing wrong with a fresh start. My mixtape is ready for pre-order today on all platforms. Pre-order yours and tag me #Captured,” was the caption that accompanied the ‘So Mi Like It’ hit maker’s first post.

Her appearance was what left many shocked, others supportive and the rest just collectively scratching their heads.

Born Grace Hamilton, Spice, has seemingly undergone a complete skin tone change – with matching blonde extensions and ocean-blue contacts to sync with her new image.

Already, the only post on Spice’s Instagram handle has racked up over 54,000 likes and a staggering 27,000 comments – including US rappers and other celebrities, fans and trolls alike all weighing in on ‘Chromaz’ Spice.

The post has also since made its way to Twitter, Facebook, and instant messaging platform WhatsApp.

If it turns out to be a publicity stunt remains to be seen, however, Jamaica Today has noted that the cover art for the upcoming mixtape Captured, shows Spice in her more familiar Nubian skin tone.
