The Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson is condemning the brutal murder of Woman District Constable Mellissa Edwards- Whyte, who was assigned to Crime Stop.
Woman District Constable Mellissa Edwards- Whyte was chopped and killed during a domestic dispute at her home at about 9:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 29.
Commissioner in expressing his condolences said “It is unfortunate that domestic violence has robbed us of another promising talent. Woman District Constable Mellissa Edwards-Whyte was met with such cruelty and callousness and no effort will be spared in bringing closure to this matter.”
The Chaplaincy and Community Safety and Security Branch (CSSB) have been instructed to provide all the necessary support to colleagues and friends of Woman District Constable Edwards-Whyte.
Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are also being reminded to use the resources available to the JCF, namely, the Chaplaincy and Medical Services Branch to help through domestic and other issues which impact their emotional, psychological and physical well-being.
Police officers are encouraged to remain vigilant and undaunted as we continue to enforce law and order and build safer communities. “As a nation we must bond together to preserve the rule of law, the safety, security and human rights of every Jamaican” he added.
