Councillors in the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC) are expected to present a work programme by Monday, April 15, based on an Eastern road work allocation made by the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development.
At the monthly meeting, Thursday April 11, Councillors were told that they each had been allocated $150,000 for drain cleaning and bushing in their divisions leading up to Easter.
The Councillors immediately began discussing how best to quickly come back to the SAMC’s administrative officers with a programme could be signed off that work could be done and payment made by Thursday, April 18.
In making the announcement of the funds availability, chairman of the Council, Mayor Michael Belnavis said administrative work was being done to make the allocation formal.
However, he and the Chief Engineering Officer (formerly Supt of Roads and Works), Everton Ricketts, said Councillors had to submit their work plans by Monday evening, April 15, for payments to be made by Thursday under the Easter programme.
