Doctor Being Sought In Alleged Deadly Abortion

A St Ann doctor is being sought this evening following what was said to be a botched abortion that led to the death of a young woman in St Ann, Monday, February 10.

Jamaica Today has been making checks with the police but could not get any official information on the incident that reportedly took place at a doctor’s surgery in Ocho Rios.

Although the incident happened Monday, in Ocho Rios, up to 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Corporate Communications Unit, the information arm of the police, said it still did not have any details from the St Ann police.

Reports are that early Monday afternoon, about two hours after a female teenager walked into the doctor’s office a procedure was being carried out when she died. The doctor reportedly ran from the office.

A large crowd descended on the office and the Ocho Rios police soon took charge of the scene.

Jamaica Today could not confirm reports that the doctor involved has since been held and is in police custody.
