DOHA 2019: McLeod Falls, Fails To Defend Hurdles Title

Omar McLeod’s hopes of defending his 110 Metres hurdles title crashed after clattering a few hurdles and stumbling to a fall in the Finals of the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday, October 2.

The 25- year-old sprint hurdler tumbled to the track before reaching the finish line and was disqualified for swerving into the wrong lane – colliding with Spain’s Orlando Ortega.

Twenty-one-year-old Grant Holloway of the United States, smoothly glided through the hurdles to cross the line in 13.10 seconds, winning the World Title.

Capitalizing on McLeod’s fall, Russian Sergey Shubenkov, silver medalist in 2015, copped the silver in 13.15 seconds while France’s Pascal Martinot-Lagarde got the bronze medal in 13.18 seconds.
