North West St. Ann Member of Parliament, Dr Dayton Campbell has resigned from the Dr Peter Phillips-led shadow cabinet, sources have told Jamaica Today.
The news came hours after it was announced that Dr Peter Phillips held off the Rise United campaign of Peter Bunting to retain the presidency of the People’s National Party, by 76 more votes.
Dr Campbell played an integral role, serving as Bunting’s Campaign Manager and the voice of the Rise United campaign.
The news is not surprising as Campbell has said in several interviews that should the Rise United campaign fail he would offer his resignation to Dr Phillips.
The North West St. Ann MP served the shadow Cabinet as spokesman on health and was considered one of the best informed and competent of the spokespersons for the PNP.
