The security forces are stating that they achieved early success under the State of Emergency (SOE) in Kingston and St Andrew with the seizure of three firearms and ammunition during an operation in Drecketts Place, Kingston 14.
Reports are that several premises were searched, during the operation, resulting in the seizure of a Bryco .22 pistol, two Beretta 9mm pistols and thirty-five 9mm rounds of ammunition. No one was arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile the Public is being reminded that persons residing or visiting the areas impacted by the SOE should always have a valid form of identification (ID) when leaving home.
“The curtailment of activities will be done in accordance with, and with respect to human rights, and citizens are encouraged to co-operate with the security forces, as they seek to restore public peace and general good order in the society,” a statement from the police said.
Additionally, the Police are cautioning the public to be in full adherence of the restrictions implemented and advise that violators will be prosecuted.
