Voting for the Grammy Awards has begun, and Reggae singer Sizzla is off the mark early. Sizzla’s latest album, ‘Victory’, is among those submitted for a coveted Grammy nomination. The 16-track album, a collaboration between producer Richard ‘Breadback’ Bramwell and Kalonji Music, was released on March 18, 2019. The roots reggae album has no features and delivers messages of love and unity to reggae fans globally, showcasing the diversity of the artiste.
The Grammy Award is viewed as the music industry’s highest honour, Sizzla’s last Grammy nomination came in 2014 for the self-produced album, ‘The Messiah’.
The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards is scheduled to take place on January 26, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Songs and albums released from October 1, 2018, to August 31, 2019 are eligible to be nominated. The official nomination announcement will be made on November 20. The final round of voting starts December 9, 2019, and closes January 3, 2020.
Reagge singer D Major is preparing for the release of his second album in the upcoming year. The untitled project is at an advanced stage of production and is intended to showcase Major’s growth as an artiste.
The album comes six years after his first album titled, ‘Its’s Major’, released on under the Penthouse Records imprint. ‘It’s Major’, featured collaborations with Lady Saw and Busy Signal and scored major traction locally and internationally for the reggae crooner.
The former member of the group Q-T is known for popular singles such as ‘Real Know Real’, ‘Can’t Get Enough’ among others. His latest single ‘Level Up’, is produced by Sound Bank Music out of Sweden.
Gospel Artiste Jermaine Edwards was recently honoured by the Marion County Board in Florida or his musical contributions. An elated Edwards says, Jamaicans should not underestimate the impact of the country’s performers and culture on the world.The ‘Beautiful Day’ singer is the latest Jamaican artiste to be recognised internationally. Ding Dong and D’Angel were highlighted this summer by the states of New York and Georgia, respectively.
Edwards is currently embarking on his promotional tour of Asia and the United States, in support of his sixth studio album, titled, ‘ I Will Follow’, the album was released in July.
Veteran Reggae entertainer Anthony Cruz is promoting his latest single titled, ‘Oh Lord’. The gospel-infused track is produced by Drop Di Bass and Sanmonik Productions spent three consecutive weeks on the South Florida Top 25 Reggae Chart, and currently occupies the number four spot.
The single is among 16 tracks to appear on his untitled eighth studio album to be released on Tad’s Record Label next March. The reggae crooner is known for many hit singles including ‘Half-Way-Tree’, ‘Block Di Road’ among others.
