Several vehicles were damaged, some of them extensively, in a crash involving a fire truck in Montego Bay, St James this afternoon. Reports are that the fire truck, with sirens blaring, responding to a call ran the red light at the busy King Street and Market Street intersection. A vehicle coming at right angles to the truck slammed into the fire unit, sending it out of control and crashing into at least eight other vehicles. Most of the vehicles were parked and had no one in them and some were extensively damaged. Several fire personnel were taken to hospital. It is reported that the vehicle that hit the fire truck before sending it into the other vehicles and a utility pole, was being driven by a woman who said she did not hear the siren. Police are investigating.
