The Government last night (May 18) during a digital press conference announced that it has now increased the number of people allowed to attend a funeral at any given time to 15.
Local Government and Community Development Minister Desmond McKenzie, said the cabinet came to the decision after a meeting his ministry had with undertakers a few weeks ago. It was recommended that an additional 5 persons could be allowed.
The overall, now 15 will include 10 mourners plus the pastor and the persons involved in carrying out the burial.
McKenzie said that “funerals are allowed using the guidelines that have been set out in the order and those guidelines are working as we continue to work with the undertakers to ensure that they are maintained.” These are the sanitary requirements and the coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols.
