The Governor General is calling on Jamaicans to return to the values they know well such as honesty, respect integrity and patriotism.
Sir Patrick Allen made the call in his Independence Day Message. “At this special time, I urge you to take pleasure in the freedom preserved in our Constitution, and God’s blessings of freedom in thought and mind. Let us value and respect each other and our country,” he said.
Sir Patrick said the year past saw some positive developments such as increasing employment and an impressive road works programme. However he said there were the negatives of crime and violence, high road fatalities and the spectre of human trafficking. “We, therefore, must renew our efforts to successfully overcome these challenges and maintain our vigilance in seeking success,” the GG said.
