Minister of Local Government and Community Development Desmond McKenzie says the Government is doing what it can for homeless people.
Mr McKenzie said the number of homeless or street people has risen alarmingly. He pointed to today, Thursday, as being Homeless Awareness Day.
Speaking at the monthly meeting of the St Ann Municipal Corporation, Minister McKenzie, spoke about drop-in centres that had been built by the present administration. The first such was built in St Ann.
Mr McKenzie said a drop-in centre was to be built shortly in Kingston. That one will be able to accommodate up to 150 people, he said.
