The security forces seized nearly 200 rounds of ammunition and a gun in two separate incidents Monday.
In the incident involving the gun, police seized a firearm and three rounds of ammunition during an operation in Spring Village, Old Harbour, St. Catherine on Monday, October 29. One man was arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
He is 27-year-old Chevoie Brown labourer of Spring Village, Old Harbour, St. Catherine.
Reports from the Old Harbour Police are that about 9:45 p.m., lawmen were in the area when Brown was seen. He aroused their suspicion. He was accosted, searched and one .38 revolver containing three rounds of ammunition was found in his possession. He was subsequently arrested and charged.
He is scheduled to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday, November 9.
And one-hundred-and-ninety-six 9mm rounds of ammunition were seized in the area under the State Emergency.
Members of the joint forces conducted a vehicular check point operation at the intersection of Norman Lane and Spanish Town Road in Kingston 13 on Monday, October 29.
Reports from the Hunts Bay Police are that about 9:15 a.m., the driver of a Toyota Coaster bus was signalled to stop. The driver complied and the vehicle along with its occupants was searched. The ammunition was subsequently found in two boxes in a multi-coloured bag under one of the seats. No one was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
