As speculation continues and various reports swirl casting doubts about what happened in a hotel room leading to the arrest of one man for rape, the police High Command has issued a statement.
It said the Police High Command is “giving the assurance that visitor safety and security remains a top priority of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).” It said this comes against a report being investigated by the Police where two visitors were reportedly sexual assaulted.
The report said “one suspect has been taken in custody and is currently undergoing a series of interviews in the presence of his attorney.” It did not name the man earlier identified as a parson of interest as Demar Scott, of St Ann. The High Command also said “several avenues of investigation have been identified and are being actively pursued which will unearth further details as the investigation progresses.”
Two American women who said they were sexually assaulted in their room at the Riu Reggae Hotel, Montego Bay, have given statements to the police and have now left the country.
