The management of Noranda Bauxite Partners and the union representing workers at the St. Ann-based company will meet today at the Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT) to settle a dispute that led to a strike of some production workers yesterday, Monday, September 24.
The workers, represented by the University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU) said there were issues including the failure of the company to pay agreed salaries. They said those matters should have been heard by the IDT but dates for a meeting had been put off.
About 120 production workers stayed off the job at the company’s Discovery Bay facility, Monday, in protest.
The company said yesterday evening that it did not delay the IDT meeting.
