Jamaica and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a visa waiver agreement, which will now allow Jamaican holders of diplomatic and official passports visa-free entry into the Arab State. However, Jamaicans with ordinary passports may apply online for UAE visas.
Passport holders from the Emirates would be allowed entry without visas to Jamaica.
Residents of United Arab Emirates who are holders of a UAE passport will receive a visa on entry to Jamaica. However, this is pending Jamaica implementing an online visa system.
Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith and United Arab Emirates Minister of State Reem Ebrahim Al-Hashimi, signed the agreement on Sunday, September 21. 2019.
Minister Johnson Smith says Jamaica hopes to continue to facilitate a greater relationship with UAE.
