Jamaica Set New Entry Requirements For US Visitors

During the digital press conference, last evening, June 29 Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced new COVID pre-testing requirements for visitors from the United States of America which is now the epidemic center for the virus.

The PM said as of July 10, anyone visiting Jamaica from Florida, New York, Arizona, and Texas which are the states with the highest quantity of confirmed cases will be subjected to the new COVID pre-testing guidelines.

Such visitors are expected to upload their COVID test results to the visitjamaica website before landing on the island however, the test must not be older than seven days before the date of travel.

PM Holness explained that these measures had to be implemented as the country prepares to welcome more people to the island for tourism and/or business.

Jamaica is expected to welcome 22 flights daily with approximately 1,680 passengers.

Nonetheless, all other visitors will be screened as they are currently and will be expected to complete testing here and will remain at home until the results are made available.
