Jamaican Shot Dead In Florida, Suspect Arrested

Investigators in West Palm Beach in Florida have taken a man into custody, whom they believe shot and killed a Jamaican on Monday morning, April 23.

The Palm Beach County Sherriff’s office reported that the bullet-riddled body of 28-year-old Eric Stewart was found shortly before 4 a.m. outside the Caribbean Choice Restaurant and Bakery. No further detail was provided about the killing.

However, authorities quickly detained 32-year-old Omari Fenton near the crime scene and later charged him with first-degree murder.

The Palm Beach Post reported that the accused, Fenton resided in West Palm Beach up to December. He was charged that month for driving without proof of car insurance.

Meanwhile, Stewart, who is a native of Kingston, Jamaica, had lived in Fort Lauderdale up to January. The deceased, who had acquired United States citizenship, was arrested on reckless driving and fleeing to elude charges in January.

Stewart’s killing brings the murder tally in Palm Beach County to 27 since the start of the year.
