The bus service of the Jamaica Urban Transport Company (JUTC) is back, close to normal.
The company deployed 317 buses by mid-morning, Thursday and says it hopes to get closer to 380 buses on the road by the afternoon peak.
The JUTC service was almost non-existent on Tuesday and most of Wednesday, following the murder of one of the company’s driver-mechanics, Monday night. That was believed to be in retaliation to the stabbing death of a taxi operator.
JUTC drivers expressed fear for going on the road Tuesday and more than 100 reported sick Wednesday. Some of the workers have still not reported to work since Tuesday.
