Police investigators have made no arrests in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy of Jamaican parentage in London, England on Saturday, May 5.
Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton was found with gunshot wounds on Warham Street in Southwark, London after a reported shooting in nearby Cooks Road.
He was hit while playing football with friends and died at the scene shortly before 7 o’clock (UK Time).
His mother, Pretana Morgan, a Jamaican who had migrated to London, told reporters that he was an aspiring architect who was “trying to make a difference” by learning to work with children.
More than 60 people have been killed in London this year, with half of the victims being killed as a result of stabbings.
In response to Saturday’s killing, additional officers were assigned on patrol, supported by armed response officers on motorcycles, dog units and air support.
London mayor, Sadiq Khan also expressed his support and thoughts to the loved ones of the teenager who was tragically killed.
