A 19-year-old St James man has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition after police chased him as he tried to get rid of a gun.
Arrested and charged is Netovaughn Roshaun Downer, otherwise called ‘Neto’ of Canaan district, Adelphi, St. James.
Police report that about 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, July 5, during a mobile patrol in the Canaan district Downer was accosted, after his actions aroused the suspicion of the team.
He reportedly tried to discard the weapon and escape but the team of police gave chase and observed Downer removing the weapon from his waistband and throwing it on the ground. He was apprehended and the weapon, a 9mm Taurus Pistol with a magazine containing four rounds, retrieved.
He was taken to the police station where he was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
