A 54-year-old man, allegedly caught on camera hitting his daughter with a machete has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is Joseph Arthurs, businessman of Revival district, Westmoreland.
Reports are that on Thursday, May 3, about 11:00 a.m., Arthurs’ daughter was on way to an internet café when she was seen by her father who was passing in a motorcar.
He reportedly told her to go home. However, she disobeyed his instructions. He reportedly exited the vehicle and used a piece of stick to hit her on the hand. Police report that Mr Arthurs subsequently went to the car and retrieved a machete which was used to hit his daughter in the back.
The matter was reported to the Grange Hill Police on Saturday, May 05 and Arthurs taken into custody and charged on Tuesday, May 8. He is to appear before the Westmoreland Parish Court on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
