Man Shot Dead In Joint Security Forces Operation In St James

The security forces shot and killed a man Monday, November 12, during a joint police/military operation in the Richmond Hill Area of St James.

The man has not been identified.

However, a statement from the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) Monday evening said the man was killed during an exchange of fire with the forces Monday. One M4 rifle along with two magazines and six live rounds were recovered from the scene.

The JDF said the operation is ongoing to apprehend Delano Wilmot OC Prekeh and his associate Richard Anderson OC Cruz who are both considered to be armed and dangerous. “The two men are sought by the police in connection with several crimes including shootings and murder.”

It was during the operation, early Monday morning, the security forces became engaged in an exchange of gunfire and the man was shot dead.

The forces did not identify the man who reports yesterday said was one of the two named most wanted.

The statement said the public is being urged to be on the lookout for suspicious men and are being reminded that not only is it a crime to harbour a fugitive but it is also potentially dangerous as these men may be armed.

The men named were urged to turn themselves in at the nearest police station at the earliest possible time.
