Man Who Left Battered Spouse For Dead Commits Suicide

A woman barely escaped with her life after being attacked and left for dead by her common-law-husband, who then committed suicide along McIntosh Drive in Mountain View, East Kingston.

The dead man, identified only as ‘Sully’ was a labourer, according to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU).

According to the CCU’s preliminary report, sometime around 2:00am Thursday, April 11, ‘Sully’ and his common-law-wife had an altercation when the man used a stone to inflict wounds to her head.

The Half-Way-Tree Police were alerted and on their arrival, the woman was found lying in a pool of blood in an unconscious state. Further checks of the home were made and Sully’s lifeless body was seen hanging by its neck from a piece of cord tied to a tree.

The woman was transported to hospital where, Jamaica Today understands, she has been admitted in serious condition.

Detectives from the St. Andrew Central Division are leading the probe into the attempted murder and subsequent suicide.
