Police have identified the two men fatally shot in Islington, St Mary on Friday night, May 4 and are providing additional information about the alleged gunmen.
They are: 26-year-old Shavaughn Gordon, of Smith Lane, Kingston and 38-year-old Kadini Harrison, otherwise called ‘Kaddi,’ of Baccas Wood, Islington St, Mary.
Jamaica Today reported on their death Saturday, up to which time they had not yet been identified.
In a release today, the communications arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force said the men slain were among four from Kingston and St Mary who were contracted to carryout killings and robberies in St. Mary.
According to police, about 11:30 p.m., Friday (May 4) a team of officers was on patrol in the Islington area when a Nissan Bluebird motor car with the men aboard was signaled to stop. The driver complied and the men opened gunfire at the police. “The attack was repelled and the men abandoned the car and ran. Consequently, a search of the community was conducted and two of the men were found with gunshot wounds.”
One .357 Magnum handgun with six expended cartridge casings and a Colt pistol with six .45 cartridges along with a plastic glove with eleven .45 cartridges were found.
Head of the St. Mary Division, Superintendent Bobette Morgan said: “Investigation has indicated that the men were contracted by someone in the Corporate Area to rob and kill members of an alleged lottery scam syndicate operating in St. Mary.We remain resolute in our stance to prevent these persons from increasing the crime rate in this division.”
