Jamaica’s national goalkeeper, Akeem Chambers, who lost his home due to fire in April, gets assistance from the Mico University to which he is a student, pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree in Physical Education.
Chambers is the first student to benefit from the Mico University College Students Covid-19 Relief Programme where he received a laptop and a commitment for a six-month stipend of $15,000.
According to Dr. Asburn Pinnock, the President of the Caribbean’s oldest teacher training institution says he is hoping to raise US $1-million or approximately Ja $144 million to ensure that students continue their education, no matter the pandemic.
Reportedly, Mico aims to provide at least 250 devices across all its four-year groups.
Chambers is also the main goalkeeper for the Waterhouse Football Club.
