MOCA Confirms Raids in CMU/MOE Fraud Investigation

The Major Organized and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) and the Constabulary Financial Unit of the Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Division (CTOC) have confirmed that they conducted a simultaneous operation at four locations in Kingston, St Catherine, and St Ann this morning (October 9).

A statement from MOCA said “The operation which commenced at 5 a.m. target[ed] the main suspects implicated in a multi-million dollar corruption and fraudulent schemes perpetrated at the Ministry of Education, Caribbean Maritime University (CMU) and other government entities falling under the portfolio responsibility of Mr Ruel Reid, former Senator and Minister of Government.”

MOCA’s statement did not mention specifically who were targeted in the four operations but Jamaica Today has already reported that they included Ruel Reid, Dr Fritz Pinnock, and St. Ann Councillor Kim Brown-Lawrence.
