The security forces say yesterday (Friday, May 4) was a big day for them in Western Jamaica as far as illegal weapons were concerned as they seized eight firearms in St James.
Early yesterday afternoon, police announced they have found four A-K 47 assault rifles, ammunition and bullet proof vests in the Bogue Hill area of Ramble, St James.
A release issued this morning said the police returned to the area and, about 5:40 p.m. yesterday, found four more guns. They said searches were conducted in bushes in the vicinity of the Bogue Hill Primary School, which led to the discovery of: one masterpiece arms .45 sub-machine gun along with one magazine; one Glock 22 .40 pistol with three magazines; one Glock 21 .45 pistol with one magazine and one Interarm .38 revolver
Additionally, two (2) 9mm magazines, one (1) AK47 magazine, one (1) double barrel 5.56 magazine along with eighty seven (87) .40 cartridges, thirty two (32) .45 cartridges, forty one (41) 5.56 cartridges and three (3) 9mm cartridges were found. No one was arrested in relation to this find.
The security forces also announced that in Westmoreland, two of the men who were listed as persons of interest, have turned themselves in to the police. Derval Williams otherwise called ‘Lukie’ turned himself in to the Police on Thursday May 3, while Tevin Tomlinson, otherwise called ‘Nandy’ turned himself in on Friday, May 4.
Police have renewed a call for the remaining three to turn themselves in.
