The National Water Commission (NWC) is reporting Tuesday afternoon, January 14, that damage to one of its major pipelines in St Andrew has disrupted water supply to several communities including business areas in the parish.
The areas affected include Marcus Garvey Drive, Spanish Town Road and all roads leading off it, sections of Washington Gardens, Cooreville Gardens and New Haven.
The NWC says the damage to a section of the 33-inch pipeline has forced the shutdown of the Spanish Town Road distribution line in St Andrew. The water company says an assessment of the damage to the transmission line is being undertaken.
However, “it is anticipated that extensive work will be required to complete the repairs.” No time frame was given for the resumption of service.
