Mother Dies After Saving Daughter



News reached our news team last evening, Monday, May 18 that 43-year-old mother Coleen Myers died as she rushed to save her daughter Tahirah Steele who was drowning the Rio Grande in Portland.


According to reports, Steele, Myers, along with a group of friends journeyed from their Springfield community in St Thomas to the beautiful shores of the Rio Grande, to enjoy a day at the river despite the government’s ban on gatherings at, and swimming in, beaches and rivers which is supported under the Disaster Risk Management Act.


The daughter, Steele is 21 years of age.


The fatal incident took place on Sunday, May 17 in the afternoon.
