Mourning Period For Shahine Robinson Begins Today


The body of the late Cabinet Minister, responsible for Labour and Social Security Shahine Robinson, draped in the national flag, arrived at the St. Ann’s Bay Anglican Church Hall, this morning, Thursday, June 11 where her body laid until 2:00 pm.

This is the start of the six-day period of mourning for the politician who died after she lost her battle with cancer.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 12, there will be another public viewing at the St. John’s Anglican Church Hall in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness urge all paying their respect to the former Minister and Member of Parliament, to follow the health protocols outlined by the government.

He says “this means wearing your masks, sanitizing your hands, and keeping your distance of 6ft apart.”

The period will continue until Tuesday, June 16, when the body will be placed at the Jamaica Labour Party Headquarters at Belmont Road, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for those in the corporate area.
