A pastor connected to the church in which a junior minister was shot dead has reacted to the murder.
James Johnson, 29, a junior minister at the Church of God of Prophecy, 41 Old Harbour Road, St Catherine was murdered Thursday afternoon, September 20 inside the church office. Reports are that Johnson was preparing for a Bible class.
Sources suggest Johnson may have been trailed to the location. While he was in the administrative office a man entered and fired, hitting Johnson several times. He died on the scene.
Some reports say members of the church were in the building and ran outside on hearing the explosions.
Some persons took to social media to express their shock and dismay.
“James was a very helpful person with good potential. We are baffled as to why someone thought it necessary to murder him” said Bishop Junior Headlam, pastor of the local church. “We are however confident that the murderer will be caught and justice will be served and I urge such person to turn himself in to the police.”
He said: “We are a praying church and we will not be daunted by evil. The church will continue to pray daily until the murderer is caught. I invite others to join us in this crusade against evil.”
James Johnson was the only child for his mother.
