Jamaica currently, no longer has 36, but 37 operating radio stations across the island, because today, February 10 the ATL group of companies softly launched its second radio station, The Edge.
It features veteran radio personalities Richie B and Deon Matis, the seasoned Georgia Crawford, and newcomers – entertainers Alaine and Tami Chin.
Both Alaine and Tami took to their Instagram accounts and shared the news with fans, stating just how excited they are to be given the opportunity.
The programming currently drafts a weekday vibration, and is lined up like this:
1. Top Of The Morning with Richie B, 6 AM – 10 AM
2. Live out Loud – an interactive show with Tami Chin, 10 AM-noon
3. Unfiltered 1-3 PM with Georgia Crawford
4. High Frequency – a reflective show with Alaine, 3 PM-5 PM
5. Home Run with Dion Mattis, 5 PM-8 PM
The talk of the town is all about Richie B returning to the airwaves, ready to take back the position of King of early morning radio, and he began this morning saying, “Top of the Mornnninngggg To You”. Twitter and Instagram lit up, with many cheering and saying, “welcome back Richie”.
All this is under the programming supervision of Roxene Nickle.
Unlike Irie Fm, Hitz 92Fm and Kool 97Fm, which play between 60-80 percent local music, The Edge has committed that its playlists will only contain 100 percent local content, mainly reggae music.
This new station shares it’s frequency band with it’s big brother station Fyah 105 FM and is aired on 105.1 and 105.3.
The station is managed by Ronnie Sutherland, the General Manager of both Fyah and The Edge.
