Diamond-selling reggae artiste, Shaggy, has announced that there will be no Shaggy and Friends in 2020. The artiste, who is currently booked solid and on tour with UB40, indicated that his schedule will not allow him the time and energy required to plan the event which would have been scheduled for January 2020.
The artiste remains committed to raising funds for the Bustamante Hospital for Children and is determined to find another way to work with the entity to raise the much-needed funds.
The ‘Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation’, has been raising funds for the country’s lone paediatric hospital since January 3, 2009, when the first concert was held. The event was then staged one year later in 2010 after which it was decided that the concert would be staged every two years due to the huge demands on the artiste’s time to produce an event of its scale and calibre. Since then concerts have been held in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
Last year’s (2018) staging of the Shaggy and Friends concert netted 100 million dollars which used to cover the cost of more equipment for the hospital. Shaggy is adamant that the work must continue.
