One person who travelled to Jamaica from China in January has shown signs of having the Coronavirus and is in isolation.
Ten persons remain in quarantine at government health facilities, as part of action being taken by the Government of Jamaica to prevent the Coronavirus from entering Jamaica.
Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton gave the details at a press conference Monday afternoon, February 10, in St Andrew.
Dr Tufton said 116 people who had come to Jamaica from China between January 23 and February 8, one person showing mild symptoms of the novel Coronavirus is in isolation. This was the same person, a woman, who was moved from Annotto Bay Hospital, St Mary to St Ann’s Bay Hospital, St Ann two weekends ago. He said the patient had shown elevated temperatures.
Of the number, 78 had no risk and are in quarantine at their homes where they are being monitored by health personnel. As reported by Jamaica Today, 27 of the 116 were not landed.
