The Southern Asia country, India has recorded a wapping spike in cases of the coronavirus.
A total of 6, 387 new cases were recorded by the country’s Health Ministry on Wednesday, May 27, no details of the ages and gender have been released.
However, this now sees India with a total of 151,767 cases of the virus, and of that 4,337 people have died after 170 more fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
India now has 83,004 active cases, while 64,425 persons have recovered.
The spike came following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that India’s government is prepared to set new guidelines, with the fourth phase of the two-month-old lockdown across the country set to end on Sunday, May 31.
The restrictions were eased for some as earlier this month, as the government allowed a few shops to reopen and manufacturing to resume, some trains and domestic flights were also allowed to begin operating once again.
Come Sunday, the new restrictions or ease with be announced.
